South Baltimore Rec Center!!! Please read!

Message from our SBNA Teen Council Chairperson:

I am currently the Teen Council chair (of the South Baltimore Neighborhood Association).  The Teen Council provides opportunities for teenagers in the South Baltimore area including:  helping the youth of South Baltimore finish high school, dream about their futures, and become productive, contributing members of their community.
The objective is to do this by exposing them to arts, culture, and people of many backgrounds and through educational programs.  The vehicle to achieve this is service learning projects, outreach to other teen groups, partnerships with other programs that can provide educational programming, self reflective exercises, and team building fun events.

Here from the kids themselves!!     http://youtu.be/4ZzOLwXL2IU

Get involved and sign the petition: https://www.change.org/petitions/baltimore-city-department-of-recreation-keep-existing-recreation-centers-open-in-baltimore-city

WE CANNOT ACHIEVE THIS WITHOUT THE ELLA-BAILEY RECREATION CENTER!!!

DO IT NOW DAY

In honor of the late Mayor/Govenor William Donald Schaefer, Baltimore is celebrating DO IT NOW DAY.  Nov 2nd would have been William Donald Schaefer’s 90th birthday.

From President Young:

“I encourage all city residents to participate in community service activities, no matter how big or small. Organize a group effort in your neighborhood or just head out on your own with a task in mind.

Some suggestions include:
Taking a few moments of your lunch break to go outside and pick up trash
Checking in and spending time with seniors in your community
Helping neighbors with household tasks or yardwork
Joining with neighbors to clean your block’s curbs, alleys and areas around your homes
Organizing a community walk around your neighborhood and reporting any problems to 311

Email pictures of yourself, group or organization participating in “Do It Now Day” activities to CouncilPresident@BaltimoreCity.gov, and your photos could be featured in my weekly newsletter. The group or individual with the best photo will be recognized by the City Council.”
